# Other settings

> More environment-wide behaviors that you can configure in settings.yaml.

## Autofix

Use `autofix.ignoreChecks` in `.niteshift/settings.yaml` to exclude specific CI checks from
[Autofix](https://docs.niteshift.dev/autofix.md). This is useful for a custom gate that stays pending, such as a stacked-PR
merge-order check that would otherwise keep Autofix waiting indefinitely.

```yaml theme={"dark"}
# .niteshift/settings.yaml
autofix:
  ignoreChecks:
    - "Stack merge order"
```

Use the check’s exact name as shown on the GitHub PR, whether it comes from GitHub Actions or an external CI service.

Niteshift reads this setting from the repository's default branch.

## Starting branch

Use `startingBranch` in `.niteshift/settings.yaml` to choose the branch new tasks start from in the
repository that holds your environment configuration. For example, if your team keeps a `stable`
branch that trails `main` and promotes it when checks pass, you can start agents from `stable`:

```yaml theme={"dark"}
# .niteshift/settings.yaml (on the repository's default branch)
startingBranch: stable
```

Niteshift reads this setting from the repository's default branch.
